Romania will promote itself as a attractive tourist destination on taxis during the EURO 2024 UEFA football championship.

An outdoor promotion campaign is being staged in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt in Germany using promotional images on hundreds of taxis, the  Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism announced.

In total, 625 taxis will display images encouraging tourists to holiday in Romania.

The campaign takes place during the EURO 2024 and will run until July 15 when it ends.

“Romania will benefit from significant exposure, not only among tourists in Germany but also among potential tourists from across Europe coming to the championship,” the ministry said.

„The images on the taxis offer extensive brand exposure to a wide audience,” tourism officials said.

Each image has a QR code that links to the general brochure of Romania in German, where visitors can access information about destinations in Romania.

„Our presence in the German market also supports tour operators, travel agencies, and airlines that already conduct significant activities in this country,” the statement said.

Germany is seen as an important market for Romania.

Last year, there were about 220,000 tourist entries from Germany visited Romania, the National Institute of Statistics. Tourist entries aren’t the same as tourists– as some people may travel more than once.
