From July 20 2022, Romanian farmers can take out loans under the „Three times subsidies” program with an interest rate of only 2%, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Petre Daea stated in a news conference on Thursday.
„We got in touch with the specialists of our ministry; we sat down at the working table using the time we have available to develop a product that will be operational next week. Basically, from July 20 farmers can go to CEC and the Rural Credit Guarantee Fund. We have started a programme that we call ‘Three times subsidies.’ What does it mean? We all know that we receive the per area subsidy from the European Union. That subsidy is safe and paid out on time; it reaches farmers on time, it is used by farmers… In a word, it is guaranteed, uniformly distributed support, understanding the uniformity related to the European Union procedures that are provided and set into motion. This support, which comes every year, has given us the opportunity to ensure that this programme has a chance and is a welcome anchor for farmers. What is all this about? Farmers get from APIA a certificate according to which, through the APIA analysis, quickly, immediately, under the system they have set up, they can see what amount each farmer has or rather what rights farmers have for the areas they cultivate. The evidence is very clear, the amount is known”, said Daea.
According to the recently re-appointed minister, the interest charged on the loan granted under the new programme is 2%, „a stable one based on ROBOR”. „It is a fixed interest rate of 2%, and it will operate for the entire period of the loan”, added Daea.
