A Romanian court has decided internet personality Andrew Tate should be placed under house arrest, his representative said in a social media post on Thursday.
Anti-organized crime prosecutors had requested that Tate be detained for 30 days after he was among six people taken into custody in an investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
The court ordered his brother Tristan Tate and an accomplice Georgiana Naghel be placed under judicial control. The ruling can be appealed.
The Tate brothers, who were indicted in 2023 on charges including human trafficking and rape were detained for questioning overnight on Wednesday after investigators carried out searches on four properties in Bucharest and Ilfov county.
A Romanian judge put Tate under house arrest on Thursday while they investigate new allegations against him, including sex with a minor and trafficking underage persons, the BBC reported.
The reported house arrest comes one day after authorities raided Tate’s house on a search warrant that his spokesperson said included “suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering.
