Giorgia Meloni shakes hands with Zelensky to support Ukraine throughout 2026

Italy has pledged to continue and extend its military and civilian support for Ukraine through 2026.

The new decree allows Rome to maintain weapons transfers and logistical support to Ukraine.

The measure will now require parliamentary approval.

Since 2022, Italy has supplied Ukraine with €3 billion in military and civilian aid.

This includes logistics, medical support and defensive equipment.

Renewal of exceptional residence permits for Ukrainian citizens who already find themselves in Italy has been extended until March 2027.

This is the norm for EU temporary protection rules.

Italian journalists operating in related conflict and high-risk zones will continue to receive public insurance coverage.

Since 2022, the EU has provided Ukraine with over €170 billion.
