Moldovan president: Ukraine deserves a just peace, and Chisinau will continue to support it

Ukraine deserves a just peace, and Moldova will stand with it, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said on the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion.

Several Moldovan lawmakers are taking part in commemorative ceremonies in Kiev on Tuesday with their Ukrainian colleagues. .

“At the dawn of a day that changed history, Ukraine chose to resist. And it remains standing. The bravery of the Ukrainian people is a light to the entire free world. We bow to the memory of those who lost their lives during the four years of war. We share the pain of those who have lost a loved one. We remember the suffering of those who were wounded or fled from the path of arms. We do not forget the torment of prisoners of war tortured and humiliated in captivity,”  according to a message on Facebook.

The post featured images showing the consequences and suffering caused to Ukrainians by Russia’s war of aggression.

“We will always be grateful to the Ukrainians for defending our peace and freedom and that of the whole of Europe,” the Moldovan head of state added. “Ukraine deserves a just peace. And we will support Ukraine with unwavering solidarity,” Maia Sandu promised.

“For four long years, Ukraine has defended not only its own freedom, but also peace beyond its borders. Thank you for keeping Russia away from our country and for protecting Europe. We are by your side – today and every day,” Maia Sandu also said in a video message posted on X in English.

A delegation of Moldovan lawmakers  members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Ukraine – will participate on Tuesday in Kyiv in commemorative events.

The delegation is headed by the president of the Friendship Group, Alexandr Trubca. In Kyiv, and there will be lawmakers from several countries in the events organized by the Ukrainian Parliament.

The Parliament building in Chisinau was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag on Monday evening in a sign of solidarity and support of Moldovans for Ukraine.
