Music & Art | Bucharest Opera artists stage concert to accompany Salvador Dali exhibit

Bucharest National Opera artists mezzo-soprano Mihaela Maria Ișpan, cellist Mladen Spasinovici and Ethan Schmeisser, a pianist and conductor, are performing a special concert to accompany an exhibition by late Spanish artist Salvador Dali.

The concert on April 27 comes after the artists hosted a sold-out performance at the end of March in Bucharest.

They are returning to the same venue, the ARCUB- Gabroveni Inn in a bid to recreate the same magical atmosphere and hopefully the same artistic success, a press release said.

The audience will be guided by classical music in every room of the Gabroveni Inn where the „The Universe of Salvador Dalí” is taking place. Participants will enjoy a double treat__ Dali paintings and  music that will „exploit the exceptional acoustics of the exhibition spaces and the synesthesia of colors and sounds.”

The music which follows the exhibition route closes with a 40-minute concert in the Great Hall, where spectators are treated to a unique artistic event.

Mihaela Maria Ișpan, Mladen Spasinovici and Ethan Schmeisser will perform pieces designed to highlight various aspects of Salvador Dalí’s life and career of the artist in a carefully selected repertoire.

In addition to memorable pieces such as „Song of the Birds” and „A Ballad for a Madman,” the concert also highlights other compositions such as „Nous avons fait la Nuit” by Poulenc and the atmosphere of Dali’s unique dream „Spellbound,” directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

The concert program features a musical selection that captures Dali’s complex essence of Dalí – a captivating mix of madness, inventiveness and passion.

Since the exhibition opened, more than 50,000 art lovers have visited the exhibition at the the Gabroveni Inn to discover Salvador Dalí’s works.

As a result of the heightened public interest, „Music in Dalí’s World” will be staged at ARCUB – Hanul Gabroveni April 27, at 8:00 p.m.

It’s an opportunity for people of all ages to admire the 170 authentic Salvador Dalí works and to experience his art together with traditional music linked to the poetic research of his close friends, Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla, who are connected to Catalonia, Dali’s native country, and Spanish culture.

Tickets can be bought at the venue and include a visit to the „World of Salvador Dalí” exhibition and the „Music in the World of Dalí” concert.
