A picture showing a Romanian firefighter who was injured in a blast over the weekend at a fuel station near Bucharest has become a symbol of the fire which killed two and injured 57.
The unnamed man is one of the 39 firefighters injured in two explosions which happened when he was on duty. Two police officers and two gendarmes were also injured.
Two firemen were transferred to Belgium for treatment „to get a chance to live,” a post by Europol said.
„Nothing, absolutely nothing was learned from Colectiv,” the night club fire in 2015 which killed 64, the post said.
No reason has been given for the explosion at the liquid gas station, which functioned without the required permits.
„Many say that firemen and police have special salaries. But it only takes one intervention in 30 years for your life to change for ever as happened to our colleagues,” on Saturday.
„Who rescues the rescue workers?!” it asked rhetorically.
The post has racked up 4,500 reactions and been shared 1,500 times.
