Romanians on Saturday celebrated international children’s day in parks and festivals.

Children’s Day is a public holiday and schools and most businesses are closed. However, as it fell on a Saturday, the full impact of the holiday wasn’t felt. Some businesses were closed, however, or had short opening hours.

This week, schools had special events to celebrate Children’s Day and some teachers handed out out certificates to  children as a sign of appreciation.

There were community events in parks for children  and art exhibitions displaying children’s work.

Children’s Day has been a public holiday in Romania since 2017.

Children’s Day is  an official UN global observance.
