Romania signs additional protocol to the European Charter of local self-government

Ambassador Ion Jinga, the Permanent Representative of Romania, has signed the Additional Protocol to the European Charter of Local Self-Government on the right to participate in the affairs of a local authority.

He signed in the presence of the Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General, Bjørn Berge and the Council of Europe Congress Secretary General Mathieu Mori.

The Congress said it welcomed the signature, which follows on from Recommendation 494 (2023) on the application of the European Charter of local self-government by Romania, which has been a party to the Charter since 1998.
