Donald Trump has suggested that peace with Ukraine is now in the hands of Russia, after meeting Putin in Saudi Arabia.
“I think the Russians want to see the war end, I really do. I think they have the cards a little bit, because they’ve taken a lot of territory. They have the cards”, he said.
Many hoped the US would intervene in favor of Ukraine, but Trump has unplugged funding, instead offering Zelensky a deal in exchange for rare minerals – which Zelensky has refused.
Trump supported Russia’s demand for elections in Ukraine during the war.
