Baccalaureate exam leaked online in Romania minutes after it began

Several candidates resitting the Baccalaureate in Romania on Wednesday leaked the exam papers to social media minutes after the exam got underway.

Police escorted at least one candidate out of the exam room in the city of Targu Jiu in southern Romania, Antena 3 reported.

Education Minister Sorin Cimpeanu said cheaters would be punished. Anyone caught cheating is automatically barred from retaking the exam for the next two sessions.

The minister said there were instances of cheating at five highs schools.

One of the cheaters who was retaking the exam in the eastern county of Brăila, photographed the exam papers using “an electronic device,” Agerpres news agency reported.

All exam halls have video and audio surveillance,

Candidates are not allowed to take bags, rucksacks, satchels, or wallets into the exam.

They are also not permitted to take textbooks, dictionaries, notes or any electronic devices.

Some of the photos of the exam papers were posted on Facebook group called Baccalaureate 2021-2022.

The minister told Digi24 said an investigation was underway at four high schools.

“We are talking about clear cases of fraud, which will be harshly sanctioned,” he said.

Candidates were retaking geography, physics, IT, chemistry, biology, economics, psychology, sociology, philosophy.

Some 39,000 students are scheduled to retake the Baccalaureate.
