ClasicFest, the multidisciplinary arts festival in a stunning Romanian palace

The 2024 edition of Mogoșoaia ClasicFest will take place on May 25 and 26 under the theme „World Cultures” featuring participation from South America, Asia, Europe and Africa, at the Brâncoveanu Palace in Mogoșoaia.

Uruguay, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Israel and Romania are ready for the two-day meetup in the story-worthy spaces of the Brancoveanu Palace in Mogosoaia”, Pro Valores Association said in a release.

* The award ceremony and the opening of the exhibition of the laureates of the 5th edition of the ‘Martha Bibescu’ International Plastic Art Competition, organized in partnership with the Union of Romanian Plastic Artists, is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, at 1:00 PM.

at 2 PM on the same day, the suite of events proposed by Egypt, Syria and Iraq will begin: a presentation of documentary films, the Arab music concert offered by Feras Sarmini (Politiki Lyra) and Alexandru Nistoreanu (oud) and the opening of the painting and small sculpture exhibition by Syrian artists Farouk and Ammar Alnahhas, Iraqi painter Geafar Dia, as well as traditional objects from Egypt.

As of 4:00 PM., the Embassy of Turkmenistan will take the spotlight with a series of events that will include documentary film screenings, a recital of dutar (traditional instrument), the „Kusht Depdi” traditional dance show, and an exhibition of books dedicated to the personality of Magtymguly Pyragy on the 300th anniversary of the birth of the father of the Turkmen literature, as well as traditional costumes and photography.

Sunday, May 26 will see the cultural highlights proposed by Vietnam at noon. The screening of documentary films will be followed by a show of traditional Vietnamese costumes, and by a recital by Trinh Dan Nhi (violin), Giang Nguyen Zha (cello), and Ana Gheba (piano). The paintings of Van Duong Thanh will be on display in one of the halls on the ground floor of the Palace.

At 2:00 PM., the Embassy of Uruguay proposes an exploration of South America, including the conference of ethnomusicologist and researcher Carlos Blanco Fadol, who for 40 years has used music as a purely anthropological element of communication. Together with percussionist Irina Radulescu he will give a recital, followed by documentary films about the candombe musical style and the photo exhibition of Uruguayan artists Gaston Britos, Jorge Tulio Idiarte Borada Diaz and Julio Testoni.

Romania’s part will start at 4:00 PM., with actress Lamia Beligan and guitarist Tudor Niculescu Mizil performing in a syncretic show, which will be followed by the opening of the painting, graphics, lithography and sculpture exhibition of Samy Briss, a creator born in Iasi, who left for Israel and who shot to international success in France once he settled in Paris. Adina Rentea will present the show.

The two days of the festival will host eight workshops of handmade jewelry, caricature, mandalas, traditional Turkmen dance, 3D painting and artistic collage.
