Vision-impaired people in Romania face a great of challenges – social, logistic, and, unfortunately, financial challenges. In September of last year, the vision-impaired community came out into the streets for protest, after the government approved a new law cutting up to 80% of aid for the blind — cutting pensions from 2.200 lei (approx. 2435 euros) to 867 lei (approx. 171 euros).

As such, below is a list of several NGOs and other associations for the vision-impaired which operate in Romania, for those interested in donating (including redirecting taxes), helping our, or simply getting informed.

  1. ANR – the Association of the Vision-Impaired in Romania
  2. Lions’ Club International
  3. AMAis
  4. Ability Hub
  5. BLINDHub
  6. Zi de Bine
  7. Climb Again
