Iran launches more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel

Iran launched a  attack of more than 300 drones and missiles toward Israel, Israel said.

Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said “more than 99 percent” had been intercepted.

The ongoing barrage is the first full-scale military assault by Tehran against Israel. U.S. President Joe Biden condemned the “brazen attack,” saying he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and assured of the United States’ “ironclad commitment” to Israel’s security.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis appealed for efforts to avoid an escalation of hostilities in the situation and wider region and Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu expressed Romania’s support for Israel. „We support the right of Israel to guarantee the security of its citizens.”

Hagari described the attack as a “major escalation.” Iranian state media said it was retaliation for the Israeki strike on the Iranian consulate this month in Syria that killed seven members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two senior commanders.
Israel and its allies are intercepting the strikes, but a number of Iranian missiles fell inside Israeli territory, causing minor damage to a military base. A young girl was injured in the attack, Hagari said.
The United States targeted some of the Iranian drones, U.S. officials confirmed Saturday evening. Britain also deployed fighter jets to the region to help intercept any airborne attacks.
Iran’s mission to the United Nations warned the United States to stay away from the conflict between Iran and Israel.

Biden said: ‘I just met with my national security team for an update on Iran’s attacks against Israel. Our commitment to Israel’s security against threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad.’

Former president Donald Trump took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to say: ‘ISRAEL IS UNDER ATTACK! This should never have been allowed to happen – This would NEVER have happened if I were President!
