The Arad border police has caught several migrants trying to leave the country illegally, through the counties of Arad and Bihor, either hiding in a truck or walking towards Hungary.

The authorities at the Nadlac II border crossing point checked a truck driven by a Bulgarian transporting electric bicycles to the Netherlands and found the four foreigners hidden in the trailer.

„The persons in question were taken to the headquarters of the border police sector for investigations. During the verifications, our colleagues established that the persons are citizens of Sri Lanka and Ethiopia, aged between 27 and 31 years old, who entered Romania legally”, informs the Arad Border Police.

The border police also discovered several people getting out of a van near the Turnu locality, with the intention of walking towards Hungary. The policemen found out that the 13 migrants were from Sri Lanka, aged between 23 and 42 years old. At the same time, the driver, a Romanian citizen, was taken in for questioning.

The Bihor border police too caught five migrants hiding in the bushes near the railway. They are from Bangladesh, Nepal and Ethiopia, aged between 23 and 36 years old.

The foreigners are being investigated for attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border, and the two drivers are investigated for migrant trafficking.
