Employees at multiple federal agencies were told to remove pronouns from their email signatures, internal sources say.
Donald Trump vowed to end wokeism in his second presidential mandate and has proved to keep his promised, signing a flurry of orders, some including the restoration of “biological truth to the federal government”.
“Pronouns and any other information not permitted in the policy must be removed from CDC/ATSDR employee signatures by 5.p.m. ET on Friday,” one message reportedly says.
Employees were instructed to remove pronouns from everything from government grant applications to email signatures across the department, reports ABC.
Employees at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) received a similar directive.
The State Department has removed references to transgender, queer and intersex people in its pages that provide information for international travel. A section of the department’s website for LGBTQ parents looking to adopt internationally was changed Friday. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday also removed websites and datasets related to LGBTQ people.
Also on Friday, the Department of Defense saying cultural awareness months are now dead at the Pentagon, (with February being Black History Month), but will be held in unofficial capacities outside of work hours.
“Installations, units, and offices are encouraged to celebrate the valor and success of military heroes of all races, genders, and backgrounds as we restore our warrior culture and ethos,” the statement said. “We are proud of our warriors and their history, but we will focus on the character of their service instead of their immutable characteristics”.
At the same time, federal workers are expected to return to the office and halt remote work.
