Romanian police are questioning a woman who was caught trying to enter Parliament carrying multiple knives.
The policemen and gendarmes said they are carrying out checks.
The unnamed woman, who is a Moldovan citizen, was on a list of participants for the Builders’ Guild Forum event. There was no indication that she tried to use the knives as she passed checks at the Parliament.
“The person in question is not a member of (far right party) AUR. She was registered on an additional list of participants in the Builders’ Guild Forum event. All those registered for the event were given clear instructions in advance regarding access to the building, including the express mention that blunt objects are strictly prohibited,” the party said in a press release.
The party said the “this incident shows, once again, the importance of the checks carried out at the entrance to the Parliament, precisely to prevent the access of people who carry dangerous objects on them”
“Further, it is the responsibility of the institutions empowered to investigate the situation and take the necessary measures,” the party added.
The woman is currently being questioned by police.
INITIAL NEWS: A woman who tried to enter Parliament on Friday had six knives on her.
The bladed weapons were detected during the body control carried out before entering the building.
The woman is a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, and the Police and the Gendarmerie have started checks.
