Romania’s Health Minister Alexandru Rafila stated last week that preparations are being made for the reception of several Palestinian children who will be treated in medical units in Romania, after being injured in the attacks by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
He declared that these children will be brought to Romania through the European Protection Mechanism. Their number has not been specified.
“Those from the Department for Emergency Situations (…) take care of the transport. We are preparing for the treatment according to the pathology. We already have such a list. The pediatric hospitals in Bucharest, for those with multiple traumas, the Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital, and possibly Marie Curie Hospital. The oncological ones will probably be taken to the Fundeni Clinical Institute,” Minister Rafila added.
The minister of Health also said that he cannot indicate a definite date regarding the bringing of these Palestinian children to the country, but that it will take place “in the very, very near future”.
