Romania sends aid to Syria in light of terrible earthquake damage

Romania’s National Committee for Emergency Situations, summoned by premier Nicolae Ciuca, approved support on Thursday to the Syrian Arab Republic, consisting of material goods – in several types of barracks products, clothing, but also food and canned food products, informs the Romanian government.

Given the dire situation generated by the earthquake on February 6th in Syria, PM Ciuca convened the National Committee for Emergency Situations with President Klaus Iohannis’s approval, following a request on behalf of the Syrian Arab Republic through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, for the provision of international assistance.

The aid, that will be made available by the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues, will consist of 6,000 canned vegetables, 100 tents, 400 beds, mattresses, blankets, sleeping bags, hats, quilted suits, gloves, boots, stockings, 200 lanterns, totaling 1,727,800 Romanian Lei without VAT, respectively 2,042,882 Romanian Lei with VAT.
