Romanian President Nicușor Dan on Thursday said Romania will produce drones with Ukraine after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Bucharest.
The two leaders signed three documents during the one-day visit.
One was on cooperation in the energy sector, the another on the co-production of defense materials in Romania, and the also was a declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership between Romania and Ukraine
Reporter’s question: Romania has approved the U.S. request for military equipment in Romania, but there is talk that Romania may become a target. Will another point of tension appear and will it be necessary to amass some Ukrainian troops?
Volodymyr Zelensky: Iran is not new, it is an ally of Russia. In the last two years they have supplied several hundred thousand shells and drones. We know very well how the first drones were launched, they had no operators. They were from another country, from that country from which the Shahed drones came. Iran is an ally of Russia both in documents and in reality. Romania is a member of NATO and any forces that come are for consolidation.
Nicușor Dan: There is no additional risk, we have had the Deveselu shield for many years. It’s a plus of security.
