Romanian Fashion Week: May 24 – 26

Dozens of designers will present their latest collections in the Romanian city of Iasi, between May 24 and 26, in Palas Gardens, as part of Romanian Fashion Week.

Romanian Fashion Week is part of Romanian Creative Week, which will take place in Iasi from May 15 to 26. This is the 25th edition.

Romanian Fashion Week brings established designers to the catwalk but also serves a springboard for young talents, Agerpres informs.

„We started in Romania, and then, under the Romanian Designers logo, we have paraded for ten years down international catwalks from Berlin to Shanghai, Vienna, Tokyo. The international market underwent major post-pandemic adjustments and we came back to re-establish ourselves on the national scene. We still don’t know where the international fashion system is heading, which is why we decided it was time for consolidation, not risky experiments. At RCW, we are present with two sections, RFW Platform, dedicated to young designers, and Romanian Designers, dedicated to established designers, the latter section already being at its 13th edition”, said Irina Schrotter, president of the Federation of Creative Industries of Romania and the organizer of RCW.

The designers whose collections will be presented on the Romanian Designers catwalk on May 25 and 26 include Affair 37, Atelier Hamza, BOL Fashion Of Nature by Oana Lupas, Smaranda Almasan, AXENTE, Carmen Secareanu, Chic Utility, Irina Schrotter, House of Compulsion, Ioana Ciolacu, Sandra Chira, Scapadona, Tearless street, Tudor Halatiu, Laura Lazar and Andreea Tincu.

During the 2024 edition of RFW Platform, the second pillar of the Design section, 14 designers will present individual collections, namely Alesia Cida, Capsali, Caravasili, Cristina Alexandru, Cyclederror, Daiana Stancioiu, Daniel Radu, Ionut Razvan, Kiss Gyongyver, Lenca, Lunar Laboratories, Madalina Buzas, Raluc, Robert Roca.

A group collection from each Fashion Department of five universities will be presented under the RFW Platform section, on the evening of May 24: University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca, National University of Arts Bucharest, George Enescu National University of Arts, Iasi, West University of Timisoara and Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau.

In addition to the presentations on the catwalk, the public is invited to attend related events such as Season Zero, a fascinating journey into the collective memory to rediscover and re-evaluate key moments of post-december fashion, UAD-FASHION-RESEARCH by Irina Schrotter, an exhibition which this year presents Hegedus Tünde, Kiss Gyöngyvér, Nagy Klaudia and Daiana Stancioiu, Aparterre + V: PM pop-up store and the Ami Amalia exhibition.

A New Victim of Fashion, a book written by Ovidiu Buta, will be launched on May 25, at 13:00, at the Palace of Culture.

Romanian Creative Week is organized by the Federation of Employers of the Creative Industries, the only nationally representative employers’ federation operating in the Creative Industries sector in Romania.

In 2023, RCW has been designated as the event that brings together the largest number of creative industries in the European Union, according to the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
