The Romanian government on Friday cut property and taxes on cars for people with disabilities and on old buildings.
Under an Emergency Ordinance it reduced taxes by 15% to 25% for old buildings and up to 50% for buildings and cars due on people with disabilities.
It decided that in the case of the building used as a residence, owned or co-owned by people with severe disabilities and their legal representatives, during their care, supervision and maintenance, as well as the land related to it, a 50% would be applied.
“The discounts apply to the entire residential building, respectively to the land related to the building, owned jointly with the spouse, to the buildings and land owned by the aforementioned persons,” the Government said.
For vehicles cars with capacity of less than 2000 cc, the tax is reduced by 50% for those owned by persons with severe disabilities or their legal representatives during the period of care.
People applying for the reductions, need to provide supporting documents valid on December 31 of the previous fiscal year.
The reduction of local taxes will benefit over 70% of the total number of people with disabilities in Romania, the Government specifies.
The Emergency Ordinance adopted on Friday provides for a 15% reduction in the taxable value of buildings between 50 and 100 years old, on January 1 of the reference fiscal year and by 25% for buildings older than a century, on January 1 of the reference fiscal year.
