The population of Tulcea county received emergency texts on Saturday alerting them that, in the context of war in the neighboring country, they are facing the danger of “objects” falling from the air space.

Ultimately, no civilians reported anything of the sort.

The area, tied to the Danube and linking to the Black Sea, has been a sensitive one for the entire duration of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

From September of 2023, multiple drone pieces have fallen onto Romanian territory as Russia siege upon Ukrainian Danube ports.

Authorities suggest that anything to fall into Romanian territory would be accidental and would not signal an attack on Romania.
