Two doctors have been arrested for thirty days before before trail, after having been accused of having caused the death of a patient admitted to intensive care by intentionally lowering their dose of norepinephrine, essential in this case for maintaining blood pressure.
The 54-year-old patient went into cardiopulmonary arrest after the dose was lowered for a second time, after his condition had initially improved.
The court’s decision is not final.
One doctor is investigated for attempted murder, with premeditation and taking advantage of the victim’s state of obvious vulnerability ,and aggravated murder with premeditation, while the other is investigated for aggravated murder with premeditation, reports Agerpres.
Both are women.
In the same case, a nurse from the ICU ward has been indicted for allegedly lying to prosecutors about suspicious deaths at Saint Pantelimon’s Hospital.
At present, accounts from multiple nurses suggest that the dosage lowering happened on a regular basis in fact, and that nurses were reprimanded for resuscitating patients.
Judicial opinion at present suggests that this was a technique put in place simply to free up beds, and not the result of personal vendettas.
