What it is that Trump has done so far, since his inauguration yesterday?
He signed a series of executive orders immediately as he sat down at the desk in the Oval Office, some particularly important ones including:
— an order broaching the definition of birthright citizenship (specifically in that children of undocumented migrants will no longer receive unconditional US citizenship upon birth)
— an order declaring illegal crossing at the US-Mexico border a national emergency
— an order deeming Mexican drug cartels to be terrorist organizations
— an order withdrawing the USA from the World Health Organization (a process begun during the pandemic), which the US has largely sponsored
— At the inauguration, he declared a state of national energy emergency, reversing Biden’s green new deal and hoping to usher in oil and gas production — thus reiterating his vow to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement, which guides global cooperation against global warming. Only Iran, Yemen and Libya have chosen to be outside of this agreement at present. Trump officially withdrew the US from the Paris climate accord.
Trump intends to halt leasing of federal land and waters to wind farms and to cancel Biden’s promotion of electric vehicles.
He proceeded to revoke almost 80 executive actions of Biden’s, and shut down CBP One, the only app used by migrants to book appointments at US ports of entry, thus voiding existent appointments.
He also (temporarily?) suspended the TikTok ban.
