Nicușor Dan, who ushered in his presidency with this meeting, welcomed King Felipe VI of Spain on June 10, on his second visit to Romania since 2009.
They met at the Getica Joint Training Center for military personnelin Cincu, Brașov county.
The visit’s theme was Spain and Romania’s shared commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic security.
The two praised each other’s roles in reinforcing NATO.
Nicusor Dan specifically thanked Spain for its “concrete and consistent contribution” to regional stability through its troops’ deployment in NATO’s Battle Group stationed in Romania.
He also expressed gratitude towards Spain’s support of Romania’s significant diaspora in the country, with over one million Romanians living in Spain at present.
In return King Felipe VI praised Romania’s hospitality to Spanish military personnel stationed there.
At the base, soldiers from allied nations like Spain, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg were in audience.
King Felipe VI also reiterated Spain’s commitment to Ukraine.
