On the one-year anniversary of a fire that burned a mall to the ground in Warsaw last year, Polish officials have revealed that it was Russian work.
The center hosted 1,400 shops and service points, with a large Vietnamese population.
Luckily, there were no human casualties, because the attack took place at night, when the shopping center was closed.
“We now know for certain that the massive fire on Marywilska was the result of arson commissioned by Russian services,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on X.
“The actions were coordinated by a person residing in Russia. Some of the perpetrators are already in custody, while the rest have been identified and are being sought. We will catch them all!”
Some perpetrators are in custody, while others have been identified and are being sought, reports the CNN.
Certain suspects allegedly carried out related activities in Lithuania, says Poland.
Actually, Polish intelligence says that Ukrainian and Belarusian immigrants have been hired by Russia to carry out this kind of act of sabotage.
One such Belarusian national carried out a series of arson attacks on Russia’s behalf throughout Eastern Europe and has been arrested (among another 15 of his kind).
They aren’t trained agents, but random people appointed through Telegram, Polish sources report.
This isn’t just a whim, or a pompous declaration: in 121 days of site inspection, 70 witnesses and 500 victims were interviewed by 100 police officers and 55 prosecutors.
Russia has in the past denied allegations that it is orchestrating arson and sabotage operations across Europe, in an attempt to destabilize it.
Things are bad, and Poland is livid: last year it, slammed shut a Russian consulate and kicked its staff out of the country.
