An aircraft entered Romania’s airspace without authorization

A small twin-engine Beechcraft aircraft, carrying two people, flew low into the airspace of Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria on the evening of June 8. The aircraft was intercepted by the Hungarian air force, the US F-16 planes, took off from Feteşti and Romanian F-16 planes.

“We specify that the aircraft in question, which evolved in the Romanian airspace on the Oradea – Caransebeș – Drobeta Turnu Severin route, did not demonstrate hostile or dangerous behavior. At no time did the pilot of the aircraft respond to the radio interrogations or the visual signals transmitted by the intercepting military aircraft, according to the international norms”, states the Ministry of Defense.

The aircraft took off from Hungary, in the Debrecen area, around 17.30, without an approved flight plan and without having started electronic means of identification of transponder type.
