A 40-year-old Australian man has been arrested and charged with four counts of burglary and two counts of theft, after stealing dozens of Labubu dolls worth around A$9000 (or $5,800, £4,400).
43 such dolls were seized by police from a Melbourne property on Tuesday.
Some of these were limited edition and worth up to A$500 a pop.
Labubu robberies have been rife in recent months, and the craze hasn’t died down, with people still queuing outside of Pop Marts and vending machines around the world to get their own labubu. But shares have dipped recently, after a JPMorgan analysis revealed that its overvaluation leaves room for a market drop.
In this particular heist, the culprit was able to amass such a formidable collection through four separate robberies of a shopping center.
The plushies have vinyl faces, fur in varying colours, pointy ears, and nine teeth on display.
Victoria Police responded checkily to the discovery with a press release entitled “These Labubu are not for you you”.
The thief has been released on bail and will stand before Melbourne Magistrates court in May.
