Aurel Voicu, the Romanian nearing 90 who just got a master’s degree

Aurel Voicu, the former mayor of the town of Cugir, has been awarded a master’s degree from the university of Alba Iulia.

This has made him the oldest student in Romania.

Aurel Voicu, who is originally a mechanical engineer, has now graduated from an MA in „Research, Conservation and Restoration of Historical Patrimony”.

„I put together a museum in Cugir and wasn’t able to sign documents with a historical characters. They said that I would need specialized studies in order to finalize the museum. I am pleased with the way things turned out”, Voicu said.

The museum in question is dedicated to the history of the town of Cugir – a project that Voicu began once he was already retired.

He was twice mayor of Cugir and is currently a member of the National Liberal Party.

Op-Ed: Now you’ve been re-elected Bucharest mayor, can you build a bus stop, Nicusor Dan?
