Bucharest airport among the worst in the world-survey

Europe has eight of the ten worst airports in the world, according to a survey by German AirHelp, with Bucharest’s International Airport airport ranking the fourth-worst anywhere.

 The survey published this week assesses the visitor experience based on the punctuality of flights and airport services ( 60% of the score), quality of service (20%) and the quality of food and shops (20%).

AirHelp, a passenger rights organization operating in 30 countries, looked at 132 airports around the world. Bucharest’s Henri Coanda Airport came 129th with a score of 6.03 out of 10.

 At the other end was Qatar’s Hamad International Airport which came came first with an overall score of 8.39 out of 10. Europe’s best airport Athens International Airport which scored 8.38 and came third.

Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado airport, which serviced 31 million passengers in 2019, was placed last receiving only 5.76 due to its long lines at passport control.

It was followed by the Kuwait International Airport, which was voted down for its lack of punctuality, staff behavior, and its smell, Hotnews reported citing Rador monitoring service.

Eindhoven airport in the Netherlands  was  criticized for being too small and “stable-like”

Seven million passengers used Bucharest’s Henri Coandă airport in 2021.

It was awarded 6.1 on service, 6 for food and shops and 6 for punctuality.

One respondent said that the airport staff is “somewhat aggressive” and unfriendly, while another deemed the airport to have a dated 1960s look, despite millions of euros of investment to upgrade and expand the facilities in recent years.
