Charlie Ottley, promoter of Romania, robbed while filming documentary

Charlie Ottley, a British presenter known for Wild Carpathia and Flavors of Romania series extoling the charms of Romania has been robbed while shooting a documentary, police said.

Thieves stole a bag containing filming equipment which contained  footage shot that day and  a drone in a park in the southwestern city of Timișoara, police said Monday.

Timiş Police later said they were questioning two boys and a girl aged 10-14 in connection with the robbery which occurred early Monday as the presenter was shooting a promotional video.

Timiş County Council said Mr. Ottley, who directed Wild Carpathia and Flavors of Romania, was robbed in the city’s Botanical Park.

“Thieves stole essential equipment was stolen from the British journalist, including a drone and several photographic devices. Timiş County Council supports his efforts to continue the scheduled filming, although the equipment was stolen with the recordings made the other day.

Immediately after the incident, “Charlie Ottley and his companion, a member of the film crew, lodged a complaint with the police” the council said.

Charlie Ottley’s Wild Carpathia documentary series celebrates the beauty and wildness of Romania’s untamed Carpathians.

The British documentary maker lives in a house high in the Romanian mountains, and regularly posts about his life there.
