t the request of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Zagreb (Croatia), evidence-gathering activities are being carried out today in several counties, in an investigation into possible corruption and fraud involving EU agricultural funds.
The investigative measures concern several Croatian nationals suspected of committing the criminal offences of abuse of office and authority, receiving and offering bribes, subsidy fraud, and forgery of documents, all within the framework of a criminal association and to the detriment of the EU’s financial interests.
The investigative activities are being carried out by the Sisak-Moslavina Police Department (Policijska uprava sisačko-moslavačka), with the support of the Police National Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (Policijski nacionalni Ured za suzbijanje korupcije i organiziranog kriminaliteta), assisted by the Lika-Senj Police Department (Policijska uprava ličko-senjska), the Karlovac Police Department (Policijska uprava karlovačka), the Zagreb Police Department (Policijska uprava zagrebačka) and the Virovitica-Podravina Police Department (Policijska uprava virovitičko-podravska).
No further details will be made public for the time being, in order not to endanger the outcome of the ongoing proceedings.
