The Germans, the Canadians, now the Australians have decided, at the polls, that the fate of their nations cannot be left at the mercy of the local versions of MAGA, which are dominant today in Washington, at the mercy of a destructive president, installed today at the White House with his friends, oligarchs and relatives.
Romania also has no shortage of destructive MAGA-Trump versions, in the far-right camp.
On December 1, 2024, they stormed into Parliament and today represent a third of the seats. They were the favorites for the canceled presidential elections and the redo.
This happened because some voters obstinately refuses to pay any attention to what is obvious: namely, that the “great” America in the vision of its “great” president comes with economic costs and democratic amputations that even the richest and most democratic countries in this world cannot afford. It is not for nothing that the Germans, Canadians and Australians outright rejected the idea of handing over their government to the local representatives of the MAGA-Trump duo.
For Romania, with its shaky economy and its still immature democracy, the already overwhelming costs involved in Trump’s rise in America can be downright suffocating if this rise is accompanied by the ascension of some politician “possessed” by Trumpism to the to the Cotroceni presidential Palace.
We risk losing everything that was gained economically, socially and politically after the fall of the Ceausescu dictatorship.
It is not only essential, but it is simply vital that Romanians come out this Sunday in overwhelming numbers to vote, because only in this way is there a chance to dilute the influence at the polls and the malignant impact on the future of the country.
The nucleus of the electorate that allowed itself to be convinced by stories about “taking the country back” is preparing to vote. Stories aggressively and subversively promoted by local representatives of Trumpism and Putinism in Romanian politics.
Call your friends who you know generally have the bad habit of staying away from the polls, ask your close relatives to think twice before staying at home or being carried away by the propaganda of Trumpist-Putinist suckers, get involved, brothers and sisters. We are just days away from avoiding disaster or a collective collapse.
Do the right thing, because the moment is critical! Do the right thing, because no one else in your place can do it!
