Her Majesty Princess Margareta meets diplomats, cultural and commercial figures at Peles Castle

Romania’s Royal Family met diplomats, cultural figures and others at the Peles Castle in the mountain resort of Sinaia where Princess Margareta handed out honors to a select few.

Her Majesty Princess Margareta and Their Royal Highnesses Prince Radu and Princess Sofia joined for an afternoon and evening of events on Monday

Following tradition, the Royal Family hosted an evening dedicated to diplomatic relations Romania has with France and Germany, which began during the reign of King Carol I starting on February 20, 1880.

The events took place at Peles Castle, in the presence of the French and German ambassadors, Nicolas Warnery and Peer Gebauer.

The ceremony was followed by a a reception in the Concert Hall of Peles Castle, where guests – diplomatic and economic personalities from Romania, France and Germany, dignitaries of the Romanian State, as well as representatives of companies and organizations from the three countries – attended a musical program offered by the Orchestra of the Air Force Academy in Brasov.

Among the guests were entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael H Schmidt and his wife and partner Veronica Schmidt.

Her Majesty Margaret wore a simple khaki dress with three-quarter sleeves, similar to the style favored by Queen Camilla, offset with a pearl necklace and a medal, a clutch bag and a pair of gold colored shoes.

She later changed into a form-fitting burgundy lace dress, featuring embroidery on tulle, with shoes in the the same shade as the dress.

Her Majesty Margareta conferred royal decorations to personalities and institutions from Romania and abroad, including the Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Ferdinand I Military Museum (celebrating the centenary).

The Royal Medal for Loyalty was awarded to Mrs. Diana Ilica, Mr. Adrian Neamț, Mr. Daniel Obreja and Mr. Claudiu Petringenaru.

The Custodian of the Romanian Crown Medal was awarded to the Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF) at its twentieth anniversary.

She was awarded  the Order of the Crown of Romania, in the rank of Knight, Mrs. Lidia Voicu.

The Cross of the Royal House of Romania was awarded to Mrs. Alice Bourbon, Mr. Tudor Vișan-Miu, Mr. Cătălin Șerban and the Ferdinand I Military Museum (at the celebration of the centenary).

The Nihil Sine Deo Royal Decoration went to Mr. Stéphane Bern, Mr. Horia Ciorcilă, the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca and the „Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences of Iasi.
