A 61-year-old man suffered critical injuries and later passed away after being pulled into an MRI machine while wearing a metal chain.
It happened at a medical building in New York: Nassau Open MRI.
The man “entered an unauthorized Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) room while the scan was in progress”.
Staff immediately called 911, reporting that the man was wearing a large metallic chain around his neck.
He was was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but died from injuries.
Patients are advised to remove jewelry and other metal objects before entering the MRI room.
