Romania confirmed 4,417 cases of the new coronavirus on Tuesday, with 360 new cases in the last day.
There have been 182 deaths from COVID-19 since the outbreak, the Strategic Communication Group said.
There are currently 274 people in intensive care in Romanian hospitals, 100 more than the previous day.
Some 460 patients have recovered since the outbreak, according to the latest announcement.
The majority of people who succumbed to the virus were elderly or had underlying health conditions.
Some 25,340 people are in institutionalized quarantine, while 91,270 people are in self-isolation at home, a drop of more than 10,000 in the last 24 hours, authorities said.
Authorities have carried out tests for COVD-19 on about 43,600 people so far.
Authorities fined about 6,760 people and companies in the last 24 hours for not respecting lockdown rules. The fines totaled about 16.5 million lei.
