Poland’s PM in Romania for talks on Ukraine, business

  Poland’s Prime Minister Poland Mateusz Morawiecki is visiting Romania on Tuesday where he will take part in a joint government meeting with Romanian counterpart Nicolae Ciuca.

He will also attend a bilateral economic forum and meet President Klaus Iohannis.

The Romania-Poland Economic Forum, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Agerpres reported.

He met Mr Ciuca together with members of the Romanian and Polish government The two governmental delegations will also have a plenary sitting.

The prime ministers said they were in talks with the European Commission over export tracing mechanisms for Ukrainian grains to ensure local farmers are not hurt by a flood of cheap imports.

At the end of the inter-governmental meeting, the two prime ministers will attend the signing ceremony of the bilateral documents: a memorandum of understanding between the Sport and Tourism Ministries and the Cooperation Declaration in the area of civil protection between Romania’s Interior Ministry, through the Emergency Situations Department (DSU) and the State Fire Service of Poland.

Later, Morawiecki will be welcomed by President Klaus Iohannis at the Cotroceni presidential palace.

 

Both Romania and Poland are members of EU and NATO and both share long borders with Ukraine.
