Simona Halep is getting divorced from her businessman husband Toni Iuruc less than a year after the couple tied the knot, Romanian media reported Wednesday.
The news came after her failed US Open campaign where Ms Halep, 30, lost in the first round to Ukrainian Daria Snigur.
ProSport said the divorce would be finalized Thursday at a notary office.
Iuruc, 43, said: “I don’t comment on our private life… No, I’m not getting a divorce tomorrow.”
However, he told Fanatik. „We mutually decided to split” declining to give further details.
Pro-Sport said the couple will not divide their assets. They don’t have any children.
Romanian media reported that the split came because of Ms Halep’s tennis career and the amount of time she spent away from home.
Simona Halep and businessman Toni Iuruc had a civil wedding last year and had planned a religious ceremony in November.
