In the commune of Ștefești, Prahova county, a bear was seen strolling out of a local courtyard.
The bear had killed a lamb and walked out with the prey in his mouth, heading back towards his home in the forest.
Understandably, residents have expressed alarm at the possibility of this happening again. On the street on which the bear was wandering, local children play. Now, people are afraid to even go to the corner store.
Locals hope the authorities will soon come up with a reasonable solution to this danger. On the other hand, many people have pointed out that bears have been encroaching on villages precisely because their territory has been violated more and more in recent years, what with illegal and unregulated deforestation going on in Romania – both by Romanians and big companies from abroad that come to Romania for cheap wood.
