Romanian Creative Week begins today

The delightful Romanian Creative Week, one of the country’s most effervescent cultural events, will take place between May 14 and May 25.

It’s actually the largest event dedicated to the creative industries in the whole of the European Union, and has been named as the most important of its kind by the EU itself.

Organized by designer Irina Schrotter, it involves 500 events and brings together over 1,000 artists, writers, designers, architects, cultural entrepreneurs and innovators.

There shall be exhibitions of paintings, sculpture, photography, theatre, film, dance, dozens of fashion shows, visual arts, and creative workshops.

This year, RCW branches out with an Education Section, in which Romanian intellectuals will deliver Creativity Conferences – from May 14 to May 17. These include talks by: Mircea Cărtărescu, Horia-Roman Patapievici, Ioan Stanomir, Radu Vancu, Ioana Nicolaie, Vasile Bănescu, Alexandru Călinescu, Nicu Gravriluță, Cătălin Hopulele.

One notable event of many is a flamenco performance by flamenco genius Jesús Carmona. This will coincide with HazarDance Festival (May 17 – 22).

It will be followed by Romanian Fashion Week, May 23 – 25.

All events will take place in Iasi.
