The latest summer storms to hit Romania
Romania’s weather agency issued new warnings for torrential rains and storms on Wednesday with the eastern county under a red alert for torrential rain, strong winds and storms.
The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) placed eastern and southern Romania and south Transylvania, under a yellow alert, with torrential rain, storms and winds gusting up to 50…70 km/h.
The capital, Bucharestm and the counties of Tulcea, Constanța, Brăila, Galați, Vrancea, Covasna, Buzău, Prahova, Dâmbovița, Argeș, Vâlcea, Călărași, Ialomița, Ilfov, and part of Brașov were given a eightened orange alert for atmospheric instability, with heavy rains, storms and high winds,
Later Wednesday into Thursday, the eastern counties of Galați, Brăila and Constanța, and will also have storms.
But it was the county of Tulcea in the east of Romania near the Black Sea was given the ‘top’ red weather alert for storms from Wednesday through to Thursday morning, when the warning will be downgraded to an orange alert.
