Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Monday condemned what he described as “horrific missile attacks on Ukrainian cities” which killed at least 11 people and injured 64.
Russia rained cruise missiles on Ukrainian cities on Monday in what the United States called „horrific strikes”, killing civilians and knocking out power and heat with what appeared to be the most severe air attacks since the start of the war.
The assault comes comes two days after an eruption damaged a crucial bridge to Crimea and dealt a strategic blow to the Kremlin. President Vladimir Putin, who has also seen weeks of Russian losses on the battlefield, had been under pressure to respond with force following the explosion, which he blamed on Kyiv and described as an act of terror.
President Iohannis said he strongly condemned „Russia’s horrific missile attacks on Ukrainian cities and civil infrastructure. Killing innocent people must stop. We will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Kremlin’s aggression.”

Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu also condemned the strikes “in blatant violation of international humanitarian law, resulting in loss of human lives.”
One missile landed less than a kilometer from the Romanian embassy in Kyiv.
“Glad that the personnel of Romanian Embassy is safe, even if one strike hit only 850m away of its HQ.”
