Romania’s President Nicusor Dan’s image has taken a battering with his handling of the country’s political crisis which culminated with the dismissal of the pro-European government of Ilie Bolojan in a no-confidence vote.
But he has a chance to redeem some of his support as he hosts the B9 summit, a key meeting of senior NATO and European leaders on transatlantic security.
NATO chief Mark Rutte and Polish President Karol Nawrocki will arrive in Romania later Tuesday and the president will host.
Nawrocki will be received on Tuesday and will hold one-on-one official talks followed by joint press statements.
Also, on Tuesday evening, the Romanian head of state will have a working dinner with the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte.
On Wednesday, President Nicușor Dan will host, at the Cotroceni Palace, the Summit of the Bucharest 9 (B9) Format and the Nordic Countries, which will also be attended by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The event will be co-chaired by the President of Romania and the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and will have the general theme “Delivering More for Transatlantic Security”, as informed by the Presidential Administration.
Romania under President Nicusor Dan risks fewer reforms and non-stop political crises
