Romanian Foreign Ministry spokesman has responded to former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev after he called the head of EU diplomacy ‘a blond rat.’
In a less than gentleman-y message, Medvedev accused “Kaja, the blond rat of working to ensure that hundreds of thousands of former Russian servicemen would never enter the Schengen area.”
“What a loss for our fighters. Well, they can enter visa-free if they want. Like in 1812 or 1945. Happy birthday to the Day of the Defenders of the Fatherland!”, Medvedev wrote on X on Monday.
Romanian foreign ministry spokesman Andrei Tarnea responded.
“Former minor statesmen calling any woman “a rat” are better ignored but women & girls in Russia or anywhere in the world deserve way better. It is telling that while he is spewing vile poison against women online the woman he attempts to belittle travels the world shaping policy. Tarnea wrote.

Kallas’ proposal
EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, former Prime Minister of Estonia, said that, together with the European Commission, she was working on a mechanism to prevent hundreds of thousands of former Russian soldiers from freely entering the Schengen area.
“We don’t want war criminals and saboteurs to roam our streets freely,” she said.
The proposal had been made in January by Estonia, which also decided to apply a permanent ban on access to Schengen for 261 Russian soldiers.
