The following speech was delivered on January 27th at the “Together we protect Romania’ Gala.
I am honored by the award I received as the initiator and coordinator of the Economic@BNR project, but also for the actions to promote financial education, initiatives that come from the conviction that a correctly informed and financially well-educated society is a society capable of prospering sustainably.
Its sixth edition was held under the meaningful motto “One thought – Romania”. The Gala brought together numerous personalities from various fields, who handed out and received awards of excellence on the stage of the National Museum of Art of Romania.
We had the pleasure of presenting the award by Mrs. Anca Dragu, the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, and used the occasion to address a short message of thanks to the distinguished guests, congratulating the organizers and partners: MediaUno Group, the National Institute of Statistics and the Department for Sustainable Development of the Romanian Government.
“Dear guests,
First of all, I would like to congratulate the organizers for their determination and consistency through which they stage year after year “Together we protect Romania” Gala. We bear in mind even more clearly now that the idea that protecting the country is based on institutions and authorities, on values and principles and, also on competence in all fields.
Secondly, I would like to thank you for this award, and for including the Economic project@BNR among the solutions and ideas that contribute to positive changes in the Romanian society. The distinction I received today honors me, as coordinator of the Economic@BNR project, which I initiated within the National Bank of Romania out of the desire to contribute to increasing the quality of public policies in Romania.
The project awarded tonight represents the materialization of ideas that have begun to take shape since the time I worked as a Presidential Adviser, when I encouraged and supported several initiatives to promote financial education.
Many of you probably know or have participated directly in the Financial Education Forum, initiated in 2022 and held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania. This is the context in which, then – from the Presidential Administration and today – from the National Bank of Romania, we support the importance of financial education, in order for everyone to benefit through responsible elections at the level of citizens and good governance at the level of the administration.
The Economic@BNR project, which won this award, came from our conviction that a correctly informed and financially well-educated society is a society capable of prospering. It is essential to understand economic developments and their implications for people’s well-being, or they are increasingly based on the acquisition of an economic way of thinking and on an adequate financial education.
We received numerous appreciations regarding the first volume of the project, the study entitled “European Romania“, an analysis through which we highlighted the European path of our country in the almost 2 decades since accession, with multiple welfare advances that Romania has recorded, but also with challenges in terms of reforms.
The Economic Project@BNR has enjoyed, since the concept stage, the support of the colleagues on the Board of Directors of the NBR and the results so far are the result of the work of the specialists of the National Bank of Romania, who have been involved with professionalism and dedication. I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks once again to everyone.
The recognition offered today, through this award, motivates us to continue, with the same responsibility and rigor, in the spirit of the values that define the National Bank of Romania, to amplify our contribution to the change for the better of Romania.
Finally, I want to send you all Happy Birthday! and a better New Year, hoping to implement as many thoughts as possible focused on that one goal that is part of our lives and hearts every day – Romania!
Thank you and I wish you all the best of luck in the future!”
