Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the British Parliament from his office on Tuesday via video, receiving a standing ovation.
But Ria Novosti, a Russian state news agency claimed that the Ukrainian president wasn’t in Kyiv at all, but in a secret bunker in central Romania or in Lviv western Ukraine.
The Kremlin mouthpiece quoted an account in Telegram which speculated about his whereabouts.
Ria.ru quoted the so-called „War on Fake” project and claimed that his recordings from his office were manipulated,
”Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky has left Kyiv and the appeal he made may have been edited,” said the War on Fake channel on Telegram.
„The probable location of Zelensky is the Romanian town of Brașov: users of the Flightradar site have drawn attention to an unidentified plane which took off from the border between Ukraine and Romania, accompanied by Ukrainian Army helicopters. It’s possible that the plane was transporting Zelensky and his team,” Ria.ru wrote.
One reason for the speculation may have been that nine Ukrainian helicopters were given permission by Romania on Tuesday to use its airspace to get maintenance work done on the choppers.
The copters flew to Airbus Helicopters in Ghimbav, central Romania for the work, the defense ministry said.
