The current frigid snap in Romania will be followed by warmer than usual temperatures for this time of year, forecasters said Tuesday.
However, the unseasonably warm weather will taper off and it will be chilly in the first week of March, the traditional start of Spring.
The cold spell will continue this week, however, especially in eastern Romania, and the far northeast.
Temperatures stayed below freezing on Tuesday in the capital with subzero weather expected during the night until next Monday.
The weather will start to warm up in Bucharest on Sunday and will continue into the next week with a high of 14C forecast for next Tuesday.
Rainfall will be low across Romania, especially in the southwest, forecasters said.
However, temperatures will bounce back next week, particularly in the southwest with some thinking that Spring has come early.
Not so. The first week of March will see a cold spell blanket the country and rainfall, some of it in the form of snow will return to seasonable average.
The weather will fall within the usual parameters from March 8 to 15, with low rainfall outside the Carpathian Mountains.
