The chief psychiatrist of the Ukraine army has been taken into custody for alleged “illegal enrichment” charges.
Sources find that he has amassed earning of one million dollars since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
This should be at odds with his job description, which involves sitting on a commission deciding whether individuals were or were not mentally fit for military service.
Ukraine’s security service reports that he purchases three apartments in Kiev, one in Odessa, two plots of land and multiple BMW luxury cars, all declared on the names of his wife, children, and other third parties.
Investigators searching his home found $152,000 and €34,000 in cash.
If convicted, he faces ten years in jail.
But he was also suspended for false declaration regarding goods and properties in 2017 — something not uncommon in historically corrupt Ukraine.
In 2024 Ukrainian parliament voted to abolish military medical commissions after several officials were bribed via this route.
