Netflix has announced its intention to raise its prices.

Nearly 19 million new subscribers joined at the end of last year, spurred by Squid Game and live sporting performances, finishing 2024 with over 300 million Netflix subscribers.

Subscription costs will ruse in the USA, Canada, Argentina and Portugal.

New prices are as follows:

Standard subscription, no adverts, rises from to $15.49 to $17.99.

That’s an annual increase of $30 from $186 to $216 — 16%.

Meanwhile, a standard subscript with adverts will rise from $6.99 to $7.99.

However, most people joined Netflix for a low price precisely in order to avoid TV commercials, and so it remains to be seen how many people will still consider it a good investment.
